This post brought to you in part by . . .
In many ways, I’m an experimentalist. There are some products, like shampoo and conditioner, body wash and lotions, toothpaste, cleaning products, and feminine hygiene products (I love that term), where I’ll watch the ads like the good little American consumer, try the newest vanilla-mint toothpaste or ginger-lime body wash, and feed my dime to the corporate fat cats. Often I’ll buy something because it’s on sale.
However, there are some products where there is no compromise. I will drive across the upper Midwest to find particular products. And, because it is my goal in life to spread the love, here are my non-negotiables.
-Dove Invisible Solid Anti-Perspirant Deodorant, Fresh – It claims to take care of your skin, and it does. Has dramatically reduced underarm bumps while I’ve used it. Plus, the Fresh scent isn’t the I-just-used-an-entire-bar-of-Irish-Spring fresh scent that many fresh-scented deodorants espouse. It’s a feminine, semi-floral but not overwhelming or perfumey scent.
-L’Oreal Excellence Crème haircolor, Light Reddish Brown (6RB) – This color is perfect. I’ve tried other auburn-toned haircolors, and all of them have a creepy purplish undertone for about a week after coloring when they start to fade. You know, the color that you see on elderly eastern European ladies that makes you think, “That color does not occur in nature. Except in flowers and insects.” People are usually surprised when I tell them I dye my hair, though I’m sure my natural coloring helps. The L’Oreal Excellence line has a pre-coloring serum to protect the porous ends of your hair, as well as a rich conditioner to use afterwards. My hair feels and looks healthy after use.
-Veet Rasera Bladeless Kit – I am the queen of bumpy bikini lines, and this has solved my problems. It’s a depilatory cream that comes with a “razor” with no blade – basically a soft plastic scraper – to remove hair and cream after use. Leave it on for the whole 8 minutes or you’ll need to do the whole process over again. Once you’re done, however, there are no bumps because there’s no razor to give you nicks. But, if you somehow do gets bumps, use . . .
-Bikini Zone Gel or Crème – This stuff is fucking awesome. It stops pain and itching right away and gets rid of bumps within 24 hours. Put it on right after shaving or hair removal and the bumps will stay away.
-Aveda Brilliant Universal Styling Crème – This crème helps hair hold curl, gives hair shine and moisture, and smells like an exotic herbal garden. A tiny dab goes a long way, so a tube will last you forever. Great for coarse or thick hair.
So that’s my shopping list. What products can’t you live without?

I only use Dove deodorant as well! Mainly because I know you do...haha!
As I have skin so sensitive that I can barely shave my legs, I must use Aveeno products--shaving cream and moisturising lotion. It does the trick well. I even have it especially smuggled to me as it is not available in the UK.
I'm not particular about much else...I love products, but I like to explore. I have a slight addiction to skincare products specifically. It better pay off so when I'm 60 I look 40, or else I've wasted a lot of money.

I do the light auburn hair color as well--haven't tried yours yet, but I will next time. I love Mitchum Solid for Women, but it's hard to find. Well-meaning hubby bought the hydrosolid the last time and it sucks!

I'm highly dependent upon Secret Platinum Solid, Glacier Mist Fragrance. I've tried Dove, but between us gals, I have a bit of what I like to call a "pitting-out" problem. This is the only deoderant I've found thus far that takes care of that problem.
I also am really into the Garnier Nutrisse hair products. They make my hair silky smooth.
Finally, I absolutely love Clinique beauty products - sorry Molls, I know you're a Mary Kay gal, but I'm all about the Clinique. Their mascara works well with people who wear contacts, preventing that "blood-shot-eyes" look.

DEFINITELY Clinique! My skin is annoyingly dry and sensitive and Clinique makeup moisturizes well (Dramatically Different) without making my face burn, and the makeup sits so lightly on my parched skin so I don't look like I was caught in a powder factory fight.
Oh, and Tampax tampons. With Playtex I have to wear a pad just to catch the leaks.

Hey Molly,
I'm all about the Dove deodorant too. I prefer the original scent though, but I have occasionally used the fresh scent to mix it up a bit.
I am a slave to Bath and Body Works sweet pea shower gel. Also a slave to Bonnie Bell's tinted chapstick in Espress-yo-self, it smells like chocolate. Corny name, but good tinted color.

I just started using the Dove, bought it on my last trip to Costco. I'm not so happy with it - it seems very soft so I end up with a lot more of it on me than I want. It also gets all over the lid (and consequently on my dresser and the floor). I've always wondered if the stuff you get at Costco is different from what you get at regular stores - if all you ladies love the Dove, that may be the case. (It's certainly true for things at Home Depot)
I'm not big into products, but I do love the Aveda skin care line!

Garnier hair products - check. Clinique skin products (and lipstick and Happy perfume!) - check. Dove deodorant - check. What hasn't been mentioned: Loreal Shock Proof nail polish, the stuff lasts FOREVER! Alterna Hemp Straightening Balm, makes even my very thick hair straight and shiny. OB tampons. Good post, Molly!
