Adventures in Retail
Last night I pulled into our parking garage after a trip to the brand new Trader Joe’s that everyone’s creaming their pants over. You know, the one that’s so busy that if you stand looking at anything more than five seconds, Impatient McAntsy-Pants behind you will start tapping her foot and staring at you pointedly. Of course, despite the crowds, I purchased mounds of delicious, unusual organic food for a tiny price – sparkling pomegranate juice! Carrot and ginger soup! Breaded eggplant cutlets! Things are looking up in our kitchen.
I pulled my bags out of the car, and a jar of Tomato-Basil Marinara dropped through a hole in a bag, smashing and spreading its contents out over about 8 square feet of parking garage floor. And my pants.
Perhaps this is sneaky Trader Joe’s way of encouraging people to use paper – better for the environment! Go hug a tree!
But then again, there’s nothing as fun as scrubbing the floor of a dimly-lit parking garage after a hard day’s work.

I'm very impressed you cleaned the floor! You are good woman!

Oh, poo. I'm quite impressed you cleaned it up, though! Me, I'd have left it.
I also heart Trader Joe's and have been going through withdrawal since we moved here from Boston, but it's so hard to be inside the freaking place. I hate you, Impatient McAntsy-Pants....

Gah! Don't you know you're supposed to bring your OWN canvas bag to trader joe's? hoo hoo!
I remember the hullabaloo when we were in SF - the big deal then (lo these many years ago) was a HUGE chocolate bar for 2.99.

Oh Trader Joe's...
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thy cheap cheap Yo Baby yoplait yogurt.
I love thy Rosencrunch and Guildenpop popcorn snacks.
I love thy product of the day ample sampling area.
And I too, bought the Sparking Pomegranate Juice, but haven't tried it yet. Any good?

I used to love Trader Joe's until it came to Mpls and now I am lukewarm about it. First of all, everytime I go there it is full of suburban families with huge SUV's and a friggin million misbehaved children.
Yes, some of the food is good but the experience is tramatic. FIL sent me an article about how buying 2 buck Chuck (which I don't do) is the same as shopping at walmart - the article was a bit extreme and I am sure I will go back (again not to buy 2 buck chuck).
Maybe I need to start going during the week????
Anyway - you are awesome for cleaning up the mess.

Sparkling Pommegrante juice sounds lovely.
Cleaning up sounds annoying.

Sounds absolutely delicious. Pity about the smash. And you're such a good person for cleaning up, I'm another who would have left it.
